Chasing Light

Photography is primarily about recording light and secondarily about capturing a subject. To quote John Peter Berger, the English art critic, novelist, painter and poet, “What makes photography a strange invention is that its primary raw materials are light and time”.

As one of the basic components in a shot, light is an expressive instrument that creates patterns, shadows, geometry and images that cannot be seen with the naked eye, depending on the way it is captured. One must reach for light, even chase it, for if it changes quickly, the desired outcome will be lost. This is what the photo series ‘Chasing Light’ has attempted to capture.

After all, is it not light that we are all in search of?
